Please keep a copy of this registration form for your record. Additional Information Needed for Workshop Sign Your Name in Chinese Calligraphy Friday, May 15, 1 am to 5 pm I will translate your name in Chinese characters, and select easier to write characters and words with appropriate meanings. I will also stylize the characters in Running Script so you can use them as your signature in sumi-e artwork. In order to do so, please let me know the followings: Last name:. . (Please provide phonetic if it has a special way to pronounce it. ) First Name:. . (Please provide phonetic if it has a special way to pronounce it.) English names are translated phonetically. There is no alphabets in the Chinese language, thus, initials will NOT be translated. Some English names may have more than 6-7 sounds. It could be hard for some of you to sign in 6 -7 Chinese characters. I will simplify and reduce the translated name to 3 -4 characters. It is easier for you to sign. It is also cheaper later because seal-carving labor is charged by the number of characters. If you already have a seal/crop craved with your name, please stamp it in the space provided:
If someone has translated your name before, please attach a photocopy or picture of it. Let me know if you prefer to keep it, and would you mind if I simplify/change it as needed. All students will receive a ready-to-frame calligraphy of their translated Chinese names on a Shikishi board at the workshop. |
