Lotus symbolizes purity and is highly admired by the literati in ancient China. In my lotus paintings, I play with the massive lotus leaves by using broad brushwork and the flung ink technique. The lotus flowers are always quite and graceful. An occasional dragonfly adds interest to the otherwise serene painting. Admiring the paintings often brings a sense of peacefulness to the viewers.
